QCS Hub publishes End of Hub report
The Quantum Computing and Simulation (QCS) Hub, now in its fifth and final year, is pleased to announce the publication of its final report, pulling together five years of collaborative research and innovation in quantum computing across the UK.
Established in December 2019 as part of the UK National Quantum Technologies Programme and funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), the Hub has brought together 17 leading UK universities to tackle the most pressing challenges in quantum computing research.
The report - available to download here - highlights the significant progress the Hub has made in advancing quantum computing technologies. Hub research, spanning across multiple hardware platforms, has made significant advances in what is possible in terms of performance, and integration. Alongside this, the Hub has made substantial progress in software development and simulation, focusing on areas critical to the realisation of practical quantum computing systems.
Professor Dominic O'Brien, the Hub Director, reflected on the impact of the Hub's work: "We are very pleased to publish this report. It represents a testament to the collaborative spirit and drive of the entire Hub community, and the strong support we have received from our funders, partner institutions and the entire UK National Quantum Technologies Programme."
Beyond its scientific achievements, the report details the Hub's contributions to the wider quantum ecosystem. This includes fostering industry partnerships, engaging in international collaborations, and leading efforts in responsible innovation and public engagement. It is hoped that the insights and advances detailed in this report will inform future quantum initiatives and continue to shape the trajectory of quantum computing research and applications.
